Brisbane Lions Vice Captain

Harris Andrews appointed Brisbane Lions vice-captain for 2024

Hugh McCluggage to continue as vice-captain, supporting Andrews and captain Dayne Zorko

Lions adopt 'streamlined' leadership structure after pre-season workshops

The Brisbane Lions have appointed Harris Andrews as their new vice-captain for the 2024 season. The All-Australian defender will join Hugh McCluggage, who was the sole vice-captain in 2023, in supporting captain Dayne Zorko.

The Lions' leadership group underwent a review during the pre-season, with a series of workshops held to help the team develop a more "streamlined" structure. The club believes that the new arrangement will allow the leadership group to be more effective in supporting Zorko and driving the team's on-field performance.

Andrews is a highly respected figure within the Lions' playing group. He has been a member of the club's leadership group since 2020 and was named All-Australian in 2022. He is known for his toughness, leadership and ability to play a key role in the team's defence.

McCluggage is another key member of the Lions' leadership group. He has been a key player for the club since making his debut in 2017 and was named All-Australian in 2021. He is known for his versatility, skill and ability to impact games in multiple ways.

The Lions will be hoping that the new leadership structure will help them to improve on their 2023 performance. The club finished 12th in 2023, missing out on the finals for the second consecutive year. Andrews and McCluggage in vice-captaincy roles, the Lions will be hoping to challenge for a top-four finish in 2024.
